Introduction to the World of Fashion Design
Co-Sponsored by The Browns
This three part fashion design series will start with an overview of the world of fashion design and basic techniques and end with a finished garment on display in the windows of The Browns. Each session will feature a field trip to The Browns for a class with co-owner Mikki Brown.

Introduction Fashion Design
From Sketchbook to Store
Tuesdays, 6pm to 8pm,April 22 through June 10
8 Sessions Tuition $135 for NBCA Members / $160 for non-Members
Instructors: Kara McCall, Celisha Racicot, and Mikki Brown
This beginning to intermediate fashion design course will focus on the basics of merchandising, from manufacturing and promotion to buying and selling of fashion lines. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of developing a collection and students will choose designs to produce a garment in the third session of the series. This class will include a field trip to The Browns, an upscale women and men’s clothing store in Williamstown and an on-site class with Mikki Brown, co-owner of The Browns.


Special High School Class
Portfolio Development and Art Enrichment
Thursdays, 6pm to 8pm, April 24 through June 5
8 Sessions Tuition $135 for NBCA Members / $160 for non-Members
Instructor: Various
This spring class is for high school students who may be college bound art students or students interested in an in-depth art enrichment experience. The class will be two parts: looking at current work and requirements of your chosen schools; supplementing your portfolio with observational drawings, media experiments, a self portrait and a special gallary tour. All levels welcome Grades 9th through 12th.


Workshops

Wearable Art: Handmade Paper Jewelry
Instructor: Robin Brickman
Sunday, May 18, 2pm to 4pm Tuition: $45 (materials included)
(Ages 13 and up; ages 11 and 12 are welcome if accompanied by an adult)
Using sculpted paper techniques, participants will make paper jewelry inspired by nature. Robin Brickman, an award-winning illustrator of children's picture books, will lead the group in creating an attractive handmade paper sculpture. Appropriate for adults and teenagers.

Private Tutoring for Aspiring Artists

Instructor: Debi Pendell
For teens and pre-teens who want to develop and refine their artistic skills.
During private tutoring sessions attention will be paid to technical skills, the creative process, and development and selection of individual pieces for specific portfolio requirements. Lessons must take place on a weekly basis. The rate for these sessions is $50.00 per hour per student; discounts apply to groups of up to five students.
