BIRTHDAY PARTIES
As a member of NBCA you can have a very special birthday part at NBCA. Our faculty members will lead the party in arts or crafts projects, lasting approximately 1 1/2 hours, leaving time for cake, presents. Choose from a variety of themes and projects. For more information or to schedule a party, call the office.

 
 
 

PRIVATE LESSONS
NBCA offers private lessons for individuals and groups in the visual arts, theater, dance, and music. The cost, is dependent on materials cost and the number of students enrolled.

Family Art Day - Third Saturday of every month
Location: NBCA in downtown North Adams
Instructor: Various
Saturdays from 1pm to 3pm
Tuition: free
Next Family Art Day: October 17, 1pm to 3pm
(no activities in September)
NBCA Family Day is a fun way for parents and caregivers to work alongside their children and create art. This event is free and open to the public but you must call NBCA to register. Please leave your name, phone number, and number and ages of children attending.

Pre-school, ages 3 - 5
Young at Art
Instructor: Sally Sussman
Tuesdays, October 13 - November 17
10 - 11am (6 sessions)
Tuition $70 for NBCA members/ $85 for non-members

A one hour mixed media art experience. Attention will be given to developing fine motor coordination and creativity. Parents are encouraged to stay during class but to allow
their children to work on their own.

NBCA offers after-school art programs designed to extend and enhance the learning of elementary and middle school aged children. Please contact your after-school coordinator to register.

Pre-school (3-5)
New Explorers

Tuition $75 for NBCA & Pine Cobble Students/ $90 for non-members

In this class we will explore art together though imaginative and individual expression with painting, drawing, clay, collage, and mixed media. Attention will be given to

Ages 5 - 7
Adventures in Printmaking
Instructor: Amanda Hartlage
Wednesdays, October 14 - November 18
3:15 - 4:45 (6 sessions)
Tuition $80 for NBCA & Pine Cobble Students/ $95 for non-members

Learn the art and technique of printmaking. Students will work with Relief, Intaglio, Planography, and Stenciling to make reproductions of their own unique art work.

Ages 7-9
Clay Works
Instructor: Gail Sellers of River Hill Pottery
Mondays, October 19 - November 23
3:15 - 4:45 (6 sessions)

Using hand building techniques to create sculptural clay work, this class will explore open & closed forms, surface & texture techniques, and finishing options. There is an
additional $10 Kiln fee per student.

Fun with Op & Pop Art

Thursdays, October 8 - November 19th (no class Nov. 5)

Fans of Warhol, Max, Escher, Johns, and Lichtenstein? Get ready to create dramatic visual works of art with vibrant colors and dazzling patterns! We will also be emphasizing the nature of things “POPular” in our daily routine.

Ages 8-10
Photography

Fridays, October 9 - November 13

Students will be taught basic instruction on the art of photography. Learning how to compose a photograph, explore outdoor photography and portraiture, and how to
work a camera with weekly assignments. An exhibition of student work will be held on the last day.

Ages 5 - 8
Art Detectives
Instructor: Amanda Hartlage
Thursdays, September 24 - October 29
3:30 - 5pm (6 sessions)
Tuition: $85 for NBCA & Clark members/$105 for non-members

Paintings can tell a story, and you have to do the detective work to find the clues. Students will solve clues by viewing works of art, and by visiting the Clarks galleries.
They will learn about famous works of art and artists, composition, style, and perspective as they play detective.
